Kura Design Villas

On Costa Rica's Pacific coast, Kurà Design Villas is a nature-focused escape in the tropics. Mountaintop chic in the tropics, with knockout ocean views, epicurean feasts and indigenous flair.the nature-focused minimalism of Kurà, which its owners have achieved with abundant glass, shiny teak and sleek steel. Add to that some oversize purple hammocks, an L-shaped infinity pool and some well-placed his-and-hers white lounge chairs, and presto: a Bali-style lovers paradise. Eye-catching masks, an important cultural symbol of the nearby Borucan tribe, complete the polished look.

Bondi Icebergs, Sydney

This dramatic, 50-metre-long pool is built into the Tasman Sea at the southern edge of Bondi Beach in Sydney. Open to the public, the saltwater baths and beach club date back to 1929, when they were built for lifesavers to keep fit in the winter.
